January 30, 2018 Albumism Staff

It’s tough to fathom that more than a year has elapsed since we named James Blake’s spellbinding third album The Colour in Anything our “Album of the Year” for 2016. And as we now look forward to whenever his next long player may emerge, Mr. Blake has dropped an intriguing hint about his future sonic direction in the form of his imaginative new track “If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead.” Simultaneously disorienting and soothing, the song features a dark and brooding synth-heavy soundscape with heavily chopped vocals throughout, demanding repeated listens to capture all of its many nuances.
