NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: First Aid Kit’s “Rebel Heart”

September 10, 2018 Albumism Staff

Artist: First Aid Kit
Song: “Rebel Heart”
Album: Ruins

Nearly eight months since First Aid Kit released their sterling fourth studio album Ruins, the heavenly-voiced sister duo of Klara and Johanna Söderberg have unveiled the spectral new video for the LP’s opening track and supreme standout “Rebel Heart.”

“We wanted to create a dreamy and mysterious world,” the sisters explain in an official statement. “It’s an homage to old ‘70s horror films and the aesthetics of that era. 'Rebel Heart' was written in the desert after a night of experimenting with an Oujia Board and other occult themed board games. We thought the video should reflect that. It’s a song about identity and femininity. It’s about the destroyer we all have inside of us, that dark force that wants to take over. We wanted to only feature women in the video—the red moon represents a sense of sisterhood.”

The Mats Udd directed video arrives with the group’s U.S. tour in full swing and in advance of their forthcoming Tender Offerings EP, comprised of four outtakes from the Ruins recording sessions and due in stores this Friday, September 14th.
