WATCH: Remembering the ‘Timeless Voice’ of Eva Cassidy [Documentary]

February 2, 2019 Albumism Staff

Today is a bittersweet day for many music fans around the world, as we remember the life and legacy of Eva Cassidy on what would have been her 56th birthday. Though her crystalline, commanding voice flew under the radar for most of her life, her songs—largely reinterpretations of classic compositions made famous by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Judy Garland, Cyndi Lauper, Curtis Mayfield, and Sting, among many others—deservedly found a global audience of admirers following her untimely passing from cancer in 1996 at the age of 33.

We invite you to join us in watching Eva Cassidy: Timeless Voice, an insightful documentary that features enthralling archival live performance footage of Cassidy in the few years before her death, as well as interviews with Mick Fleetwood, Katie Melua, and her other devoted champions who made sure that her music will be heard far and wide for generations to come. “Her voice,” Fleetwood reflects during the film, “was her ultimate tool of magic.” And magical it will forever be.
