Last month, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of Saint Etienne’s dazzling debut long player Foxbase Alpha, with Albumism’s Justin Chadwick affectionately describing the album as “a seminal recording of the [‘90s]” that “convincingly blurred the lines between pop, indie and dance music, straddling the lines between retro and contemporary inspirations…for a kaleidoscopic, endlessly addictive sound.” Read the full tribute here.
And today, the trio comprised of Bob Stanley, Pete Wiggs and Sarah Cracknell have announced an expansive reissue campaign to coincide with the album’s 25-year milestone. Foxbase Alpha is slated to return in three different formats, including a single 12-inch vinyl edition that is an exact replica of the original 1991 pressing by Heavenly Recordings, a special limited edition box set that includes the remastered album on two 12-inch 45rpm discs, along with a handful of rarities, photographs, and other goodies, and a two-disc CD version.
Each reissue will be available to pre-order via the Saint Etienne online store beginning at 5:00pm GMT (or 1:00pm ET in the US) this Thursday, October 27th. A host of Foxbase Alpha branded merchandise will also be made available for purchase.
More information, including a brief reference to a brand new Saint Etienne album on the horizon, can be found on the band’s website here.
