Six months on from releasing her triumph of a fifth studio album Róisín Machine—Albumism’s #1 Album of the Year for 2020—this past October, the magnificent Ms. Murphy and her kindred musical spirit Crooked Man (a.k.a. DJ Parrot) have returned with a fresh set of reinterpreted compositions culled from the acclaimed LP in the form of Crooked Machine. Slated for release on April 30th with a special Record Store Day vinyl version set for a June 12th arrival, the 9-track remix album offers a revelatory view into the creative collaboration that spawned its precursor.

“I think Crooked Machine is one of (Parrot’s) greatest achievements so far,” Murphy declares in an official statement. “I left him and Fat Dave to their own devices on this and they have outdone themselves! I absolutely love it!! I think I prefer it to the original album, slightly less me and all the more ‘cool’ for it!”

Listen to the project’s initial offering “Assimilation”—a soaring slice of sheer sonic delight— below and stay tuned for additional details about the project in the next few weeks to come. And for her fans in the UK and across Europe, mark your calendars for her upcoming All Points East festival performance August 30th followed by her autumn tour, which kicks off September 14th in Glasgow.
