NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Natalie Schlabs’ “Don’t Look Too Close” (Acoustic)

Released nearly one year ago, Natalie Schlabs’ Don’t Look Too Close is a criminally under-the-radar revelation of an album that deserves to be heard by music lovers far and wide. Deservedly named one of Albumism’s Best Albums of 2020 and one of my personal favorites from last year, the nine-track set is just north of a half-hour in duration, but these exquisitely crafted songs are the type that stay with you long after the needle is lifted from the turntable. A glorious coalescence of superior songwriting, soaring vocals and stirring melodies, Don’t Look Too Close will stay with me for a lifetime, I’m sure of it.

Hence why it’s such welcome news that the Nashville-based artist will unveil an EP of B-Sides culled from the album’s recording sessions on November 12th. The companion DLTC B-Sides release represents yet another opportunity to discover (or rediscover) the magic of her songcraft and it’s preceded by the beautifully stripped-down acoustic version of “Don’t Look Too Close,” which can be enjoyed below.
