NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Mariah Carey’s “Type Dangerous”

June 5, 2025 Albumism Staff
Mariah Carey Type Dangerous

Mariah Carey has delivered her new single “Type Dangerous,” which reverentially interpolates Eric B. & Rakim’s classic track “Eric B. Is President” from the duo’s landmark 1987 debut album Paid In Full.

“I’m so excited to finally be releasing ‘Type Dangerous’ into the world!”, Carey shares in an official press statement. “I've been locked up in the studio for quite some time working my behind off on new music, and I’m thrilled for the unveiling of it to my fans, starting with ‘Type Dangerous’!”

The single follows the 2024 release of “Portrait” as the third single from Carey’s most recent album Caution (2018) and presumably represents an early preview of the iconic singer-songwriter’s forthcoming sixteenth studio LP.
