NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Liam Gallagher’s “Shockwave”

Nearly two years removed from the bevy of deserved commercial and critical acclaim that greeted his first-ever solo album As You Were (2017), Liam Gallagher has returned with the first taste of his second solo affair entitled Why Me? Why Not, due to arrive later this year. Co-written by Andrew Wyatt and Greg Kurstin (who also produced the track), the rollicking “Shockwave” suggests that the Oasis co-founder hasn’t missed a beat and augurs great things to come from the forthcoming full-length.

“I’m buzzing,” Gallagher admits in an official statement. “Buzzing to be alive, buzzing to be making tunes, raring to go. It’s nice to be back with some new music because it means I can get out there, play some gigs and give some people some stick because that is what I do. Let’s face it, it’s boring without me. [‘Why Me? Why Not’] is a better record than ‘As You Were,’” which is saying something, as that was epic, wasn’t it?”

Listen to “Shockwave” below and check out the trailer for the As It Was documentary, which hit theatres in the UK yesterday.

UPDATE 6/13/19: Watch the just-released video for “Shockwave” below.
