NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5”

May 9, 2022 Albumism Staff

The mighty Kendrick Lamar has unveiled what is presumably the first taste of his forthcoming fifth studio album and follow-up to 2017’s acclaimed DAMN., Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, due for arrival this Friday, May 13th. “The Heart Part 5” finds the electrifyingly eloquent emcee in peak form atop a soundscape blessed by a well-placed sample lifted from fellow musical visionary Marvin Gaye’s “I Want You” from his 1976 studio album of the same name.

Watch the official video—in which he morphs into the guise of OJ Simpson, Kanye West, Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle—below.
