As we wrap up our end-of-2017 festivities and redirect our gaze toward what’s on the horizon in 2018, one of the forthcoming albums we’re most excited about is Inara George’s Dearest Everybody, set to arrive January 19th. The follow-up to 2009’s Accidental Experimental, George’s fourth solo album is destined to expand The Bird and the Bee and Living Sisters co-founder’s proven penchant for combining evocative vocals and heart-warming melodies to produce some of pop music’s most sophisticated and stirring songs.

Case in point: “Release Me,” the sparse, emotive second single lifted from Dearest Everybody, following last month’s unveiling of “Young Adult.” Of the track’s accompanying, ocean-set video directed by Jeremy Cohen, George explains in an official statement, “I wanted to make a video for this song that captured the feeling one can have when grief feels completely insurmountable and life pushes you around. So serenading the ocean felt like a good way to capture that feeling.”
