NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Björk Resurfaces in Radiant Form with Futuristic Video for “The Gate”

September 23, 2017 Albumism Staff

Artist: Björk
Song: “The Gate”
Album: Utopia (Due in stores November 2017)
Buy (Single): Official Store | Amazon | iTunes

Though we’ll need to wait another handful of weeks for the November arrival of Björk’s forthcoming ninth studio album Utopia, our impatience has been temporarily assuaged by her unveiling of the stunning video for lead single “The Gate,” which she recently premiered at the Nowness installation at London Fashion Week.  Flexing her proven penchant for pushing the proverbial creative envelope once again, the Andrew Thomas Huang directed, CGI-driven clip doesn’t disappoint in its epic, ambitious scope.

“’The Gate’ is essentially a love song, but I say ‘love’ in a more transcendent way,” Björk explained in an official statement. “’Vulnicura’ was about a very personal loss, and I think this new album is about a love that’s even greater. It’s about rediscovering love—but in a spiritual way, for lack of a better word.”
