NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: BANKS’ “Holding Back”

February 25, 2022 Albumism Staff

Nearly three years on from the release of her most recent album III (2019), BANKS has revealed that her fourth studio album entitled Serpentina will make landfall April 8th. Written and co-produced by the Los Angeles based singer-songwriter herself, he 13-track affair is preceded by the soulfully slinky new single “Holding Back,” which she premiered in thrilling fashion last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

“In the past I've been really tight and controlled, and I don't feel like that right now,” BANKS confides in an official statement. “I just feel more wild and free.”

“Snakes represent rebirth and the shedding of one's skin,” she continues. “They just move on, and I think that's what life is about. Changing and transforming, with a little bit of danger, but also smooth and silky. It just felt like the perfect representation. This album feels regal to me, but also my most human ever. So I think it kind of touches both ends of the spectrum.”

Watch last night’s special performance below and be sure ot mark April 8th in your calendars for Serpentina’s highly anticipated arrival.
