NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: August Greene’s “Optimistic” & “Black Kennedy”

February 18, 2018 Albumism Staff

Artist: August Greene
Songs: “Optimistic” & “Black Kennedy”
Album: August Greene (due in stores March 9th)

Following their recent Primetime Emmy Award win for “Letter to the Free” from Ava DuVernay’s 2016 documentary 13th, kindred musical spirits Common, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins have joined creative forces under the group moniker August Greene.

Their collaborative, self-titled debut album arrives in stores March 9th via Amazon Music and is preceded by two inspired singles: a cover of Sounds of Blackness’ 1991 hit single “Optimistic” featuring Brandy and the empowering follow-up track “Black Kennedy.” Listen to both songs below and mark March 9th on your calendars.
