NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Amber Mark’s “Put You On” Featuring DRAM

October 17, 2018 Albumism Staff

Artist: Amber Mark featuring DRAM
Song: “Put You On”
Album: TBD

Two of our favorite records to emerge within the past sixteen months, Amber Mark’s pair of excellent EPs 3.33am (2017) and Conexão (2018) have commanded heavy rotation here at Albumism HQ. Hence why we’re thrilled to hear her just-released single “Put You On,” a throwback-styled collaboration with DRAM that stokes our deepest nostalgia for the halcyon days of ‘90s R&B.

“The idea of the song came from wanting to talk about a woman who made it out of the hood in NY and into the top of success,” Mark explains in an official statement. “Cardi B was really blowing up at the time and I thought a similar story to hers would be such a vibe for the production. The beat sounded so much like summer in NY and I figured it would be dope to lyrically make a subtle NY anthem.”

Here’s to hoping that Ms. Mark’s proper full-length debut album isn’t too far away now.
