Love, Simon
RCA/Sony (2018)
Selected by Andy Healy
Very few films in recent years have captured that John Hughes vibe (with a dash of social commentary) as well as Love, Simon. So it’s fitting that the soundtrack lives up to the iconic Hughes soundtracks (see Pretty in Pink). Compiled and produced by Jack Antonoff, the soundtrack features a good cross-section of indie-pop and a mix of modern and classic R&B.
Of course Antonoff’s outfit The Bleachers features heavily, but each track feels as though it earned its place. Tracks by Troye Sivan, Khalid and Normani, HAERTS and The 1975 keep the positive vibe going, resulting in a soundtrack that is as uplifting and heart-warming as the movie.
