What Guster’s third LP teaches us is that the simple fact that you have to make a change doesn’t make it any less painful.

While ‘Keep It Together’ feels like a giant pivot away from the apocalypse-in-waiting of ‘Lost and Gone Forever,’ it’s not a betrayal of Guster’s identity as a band.

The band’s fifth studio album is kind of a mess…in the best possible way. Full of unexpected transitions, it’s unique in their repertoire because it has no overarching aesthetic sensibility.
